• Coolant leak into cylinder (pre-2016): IMPORTANT: Early 1.0 EcoBoost (2012-2016) can develop coolant leak into cylinders. White smoke from exhaust and coolant loss are warning signs. Degas bottle hose is the common failure point.
• Timing belt maintenance: Uses belt — needs replacement at 150,000 km or 10 years.
• Car is 19 years old — expect age-related wear: rubber seals, bushings, water pump, AC compressor
• Higher mileage (205,911 km) — check for timing system condition, turbo health, and suspension wear

• Ford EcoBoost 1.0 3-cylinder has a known coolant-into-cylinder issue. Degas bottle (coolant tank) drops level without visible leak. Ford redesigned the block after 2018. CHECK coolant level trend. If dropping, budget €1,500-3,000 for repair (may need new block).
• Vehicle is 15+ years old. Age-related issues: rubber seals/hoses degrade, electrical connectors corrode, suspension bushings wear. Not specific to any engine, but expect €500-1,500/year in age-related maintenance beyond normal service items.
• Ford 1.0 EcoBoost 3-cylinder (pre-2016 models) with 60k+ km: internal coolant hose delamination can cause catastrophic overheating without warning. The hose breaks down internally and blocks coolant flow. Head gasket failure follows if not caught. Ford issued a recall for some VINs (2012-2016). Also check for turbo coolant pipe failure. Post-2016 models used improved parts. Always verify if the recall was performed.
• Any car with 200k+ km requires extra scrutiny.
